What is UV40 or UV400?

In the UK and EU, sunglasses must be rated as UV40 or UV400.
This means the lenses are capable of blocking 99-100% of UVA and UVB light to 400 nano-metres in compliance to European standard: EN 1836:2005
UVA and UVB are the most damaging frequencies in the ultraviolet spectrum.
All Banton Frameworks sun lenses are UV400 rated.
